Consultancy SIG - How did I get here?

Alex Salas hasn't had the typical career journey from the corporate world to independent consultant, he ran into some roadblocks along the way. So we're going to ask him about them! What skills did he find that he needed that he didn't expect? How did he promote himself? What roadblocks did he run into and how did he handle them?
